I thought this was a fantastic talk by Tim Brown on the importance of play – not only that it gets the creative juices flowing, but that play has rules, and rules help play function…something that I think adults tend to forget. This is pretty entertaining: “Star Wars,” as retold by someone who has never seen the original trilogy. It’s hard to believe sometimes that these stories, which permeate our culture so deeply, can slip by certain people. But then, I knew someone in college who had never seen Star Wars…and I also knew someone who had never eaten an orange before. Go figure. Anyway, you can see how even to someone who has never seen it, iconic stories can still leave an impression. In this version, all the basic elements are there – they’re just…scrambled…a bit. :)...

Twitter has only been around for about a year and a half, and yet it has already fundamentally changed the way we communicate. Whether we like it or not, Twitter is – and will continue to become – a standard form of communication…as standard as IM and text messages. One way in which Twitter is changing the world is in how it’s redefining our definition of celebrity (ok, “twelebrity” might be silly…but regardless, it’s appropriate). It used to be that celebrities – writers, actors, politicians, etc. – were these untouchable, unreal icons....

This has been a fantabulous Christmas. I managed to feel good about my gift-giving extravaganza without going into debt (OK, so I’m broke…but at least I’m not in the negative). Plus, my wonderful husband and mother and father all chipped in to get me a digital SLR camera plus accessories! I hope to relearn all of the photography skills that I have completely forgotten…over time, of course. In other news, I have no idea what to do with this website. I don’t feel like a blogging type of girl…and yes, I understand the irony after my other post re: microblogging...
